NRL SEASON 2010
ROUND 26

Titans v Tigers
The Gold Coast Titans top four hopes took a hammering after last weekend’s shock 30-16 loss to the Sharks and they must beat the Tigers this week to cement a home final, and they may have to do it without the in-form five-eighth Matt Rogers who suffered a hip-flexor injury against the Sharks. Benji Marshall was back to his brilliant best last weekend chalking up three tries in the Tigers 26-14 win over the Storm, although the win did come at a huge cost with centre Chris Lawrence, prop John Skandalis and fullback Wade McKinnon likely to miss this week.
TIP : TITANS

Broncos v Raiders
The Broncos are in danger of missing the finals for the first time since 1999 after last week’s 36-4 loss to the Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium and in what must be a major worry for coach Ivan Henjak, the Broncos missed 19 tackles in first half against the Warriors and they looked to be a ship without a rudder without Darren Lockyer. The Raiders moved into the top eight after last week’s 48-4 win over the hapless Cowboys and a win over the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night will guarantee the Raiders qualify for the finals regardless of over results.
TIP : RAIDERS

Eels v Warriors
The Bunnies officially ended the Eels season with a 24-16 win at ANZ Stadium last weekend and according to coach Daniel Anderson his side’s lack of creativity in the halves was too great an obstacle to overcome this season. The Warriors clinched a final berth after last weekend’s 36-4 demolition of the Brisbane Broncos at Mount Smart Stadium, with backrower Lewis Brown and fullback Lance Hohaia sharing the spoils with two tries apiece, and the game was virtually over at half-time with the Warriors running in five tries to lead 24-0 at the break.
TIP : EELS

Cowboys v Roosters
The Cowboys were an embarrassment in Canberra last weekend losing 48-4 to the Raiders and surely there must be a question mark over Neil Henry’s future after another wasted season, and perhaps Daniel Anderson could the ideal choice especially if the Eels board pushes him over the edge. After three successive losses, the boys from Bondi are back on the premiership radar after last Sunday’s come-from-behind 30-14 win over Manly, after the Sea Eagles had raced to 14-0 lead and Roosters centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall was in outstanding form, scoring a hat-trick and Todd Carney proved beyond doubt that he’s ready to lead take the next step and claim his first Kangaroos jersey.
TIP : ROOSTERS

Panthers v Sharks
The Panthers took a giant step towards securing a home final after their 24-18 win over the Bulldogs on Monday night at ANZ Stadium, but the win may come at a huge cost with Petro Civoniceva finals campaign in doubt after he was sent off after catching Bulldogs backrower Gary Warburton around the head with a swinging arm. The Cronulla Sharks gave their supporters some hope for next season with a 30-16 upset win over the Gold Coast Titans last weekend to send out retiring veterans Trent Barrett and Luke Covell winners on their home soil at Toyota Park.
TIP : PANTHERS

Storm v Knights
It has been a long and difficult season for the Melbourne Storm and it finally comes to an end on Sunday afternoon at AAMI Park and the fans will get the opportunity to say goodbye to the “season from hell” and possibly the world’s best player, Greg Inglis. The Newcastle Knights fought back from a 22-0 deficit against the Dragons last weekend, eventually losing 26-18 and officially ending their late season charge towards clinching a finals berth.
TIP STORM

Sea Eagles v Bulldogs
The Canterbury Bulldogs players and spectators will farewell Brett Kimmorley and Luke Pattern at Brookvale Oval on Sunday afternoon, and despite being out of finals contention I expect the Bulldogs to lift for the occasion and they’ll come out running in the opening 20 minutes of the game. Manly coach Des Hasler was left scratching head after last week’s 30-14 capitulation to the Roosters at the SFS last Sunday after racing to a 14-0 lead, only to see the Roosters claw their way back into the game with a little help from a controversial eight point try.
TIP : SEA EAGLES

Dragons v Rabbitohs
The Dragons survived another second-half meltdown to clinch the minor premiership with a 26-18 win over the Newcastle Knights – the Dragons pushed the lead out to 22-0 early in the second half, only to take their foot off the pedal and concede 18 unanswered points, before Jamie Soward came up with the winning try. The Rabbitohs kept their finals hopes alive with a gritty 24-16 win over the Parramatta Eels last week at ANZ Stadium, but unfortunately for coach John Lang and his players they can only hope the results will fall their way if they want to extend their season beyond this weekend – a long shot, you’d think.
TIP : DRAGONS
